Successful commercialization of academic research
Ekkono was invited to present at the USWC semifinals through the Deutsche Energie-Agentur (the German Energy Agency) – dena. As finalist in the Startup Energy Transition 2021, Ekkono participated at the SET Demo Day in China and as winner of the pitching event there, Ekkono received the spot and made it all the way to the final USWC event.
“We dropped in on a banana skid, but man, am I happy we did! We’re sprung out of over 7 years of research at the University of Borås, Sweden, led by my co-founder, our CTO Rikard König. Winning USWC is a proud testimony that we’ve successfully commercialized the academic work and results. Contacts are hard currency, and Venture Cup USWC has introduced us to a lot of new people that represent investment and commercial opportunities. The recognition we get will certainly help us reach our vision – to be the default option for making connected things smart” says Jon Lindén, CEO Ekkono.
